About us

BethGold Foundation, registered in 2023, under the AG chamber ministry of justice with the registration No: 2023/C21573, is based in The Gambia. Our main aim is to ensure the provision of quality inclusive education and promote lifelong learning opportunities and real-world exposure for children with disabilities. We also advocate for the social inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Our vision is to create a society where people with disabilities are fully integrated and have equal opportunities to succeed.

Our Team

Our team consist of highly experience experts with a diverse background in various fields with a share vision and passion for inclusive practice. The team brings a combine years of experience from various professional perspective including community engagement with indigenous people from various background, culture and society.

Founder

A Certified Social Entrepreneur, Peace and Conflict Trainer, Business Coach, Mentor, Motivational Speaker and Disability Rights and Social Inclusion Advocate who has faced challenges with visual impairment.  These experiences ignited past and current passion of advocating for the rights and social inclusion of young people, especially persons with disabilities. 

Championing the cause of young people both in and outside The Gambia, impacting many young lives and developing global networks.  He is among one thousand young people who participated in the 2019 UNLEASH global sustainable initiative of UN SDGs in Shenzhen, China, a Silver Award Recipient during UNLEASH Global Innovation Lab pitching contest under SDG4 Quality Education, and a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship for young African leaders Alumni in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA.

Charles Degold Gomez is the Vice president of Carifika Gambia chapter, a non profit international organization established to create a unified social and economic system for African and Caribbean people to strengthen, preserve and rebuild wealth, education, health, culture, spiritual development and a wide range of resources for generations to come.

He also serves as a board member of the United States Exchange Program Alumni Network (US EPAN) as the program manager.

His vision is to see an inclusive society that never doubts the potential of Persons with Disabilities.

Umaru Fofanah - Communication and Public Relations Officer

Communication and Public Relations
Umaru Fofanah is a dedicated teacher, mentor, and advocate for children’s right to education. He is the Head of the English Department at Glory Baptist International School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Science in Public Administration. Umaru was selected as an adult mentor for the 2022 Pan African Youth Leadership Program (PAYLP), a U.S. Department-sponsored initiative, and was chosen from 700 applicants to attend the All-Star PAYLP in the United States.

Umaru has mentored over 500 children and youth in Sierra Leone and The Gambia and has been recognized for his contributions to nation-building with several awards, including the National Children of Excellence Awards from 2011 to 2015. He is also an alumnus of the YALI Regional Leadership Center in Ghana. In his free time, Umaru is passionate about organizing additional educational programs for children and youth, with a vision of creating a society where all children have access to quality inclusive education

Program Officer
Fatou Badjie is a graduate from the University of the Gambia, with a bachelor degree in journalism. She has a wealth of experience and background in research and survey. Over the span of three years, She has worked as an enumerator in 3 different survey firms. Which includes the Gambia Bureau of Statistics on the Time release Survey TRS in 2018, Center for research & Policy Development (CRPD) in collaboration with Peace Research Institute Oslo(PRIO), in a research study on Future Migration as a Present Fact in the Gambia in 2022. 2M CORP in collaboration with World Bank Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) as an interviewer to survey 2,175 beneficiaries in 92 schools in region 3 and 6 under the Gambia Agricultural and food Safety Project (GAFSP) in 2023 She has the passion for writing and helping others communicate their ideas. Fatou is motivated by the challenges of learning new things.
